Hixson High School Recognizes Firefighters On 9/11 Anniversary

Remembering the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists attacks on this country, Hixson High School today presented a "Spirit of September 11th" award to the firefighters assigned to Chattanooga Fire Station 19.

Assistant Fire Marshal Chuck Hartung, a Hixson High alumni, was also on hand for the presentation and on behalf of the firefighters present, accepted the award from Principal Lee Sims.

In making the presentation this afternoon at a faculty meeting, Principal Sims said the award was for "Making a difference in our community through caring and service." Principal Sims said the award was also meant for “all emergency responders in the area, who daily put their lives on the line to protect us.”
