Michael Ray Wagner, 64, of Cohutta, GA, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on March 30, 1949 in Cleveland, a son of the late C. Ray Wagner. Mike attended and was a member of the first graduating class of Cleveland High School in 1967. He went on to attend Cleveland State Community College and was a graduate of their first graduating class in 1969. Mike went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was of the Church of God faith. Mike worked for the Verizon Corporation in Atlanta, GA as an account manager for twenty plus years. His hobbies included gardening, raising herbs, fishing sightseeing and travel to name just a few.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.C. & Avis Wagner; and maternal grandparents, Lewis & Roxie Stepp.
Mike is survived by his mother, Emmlee Wagner Carroll; one brother, Chris Wagner and his companion Tammie Kurrin; niece, Nichole Wagner; nephew, Matt Wagner; his best friend, Greg Boston and his family; and numerous other extended family members and special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Friday night, December 13 at 7 p.m. at the Stuart Park Baptist Church located 850 17thStreet NW in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Roger Stepp and Pastor Ken Bowers officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, December 13 from 5-7 p.m.
The interment and committal service will take place on Saturday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
