Barnes Pleads Guilty In Murder Of Rev. Strong

  • Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Brendan Barnes pleaded guilty Tuesday in the death of Rev. David Strong in Glenwood in October 2010.

Barnes pleaded guilty to facilitation of second-degree murder and facilitation of especially aggravated robbery.

Barnes was 16 at the time of the murder.

His mother had her arm around him as he entered his guilty pleas to a judge filling in for Criminal Court Judge Don Poole.

He got a 12-year sentence in each case and will be eligible for parole consideration after serving 30 percent of the term. The sentences are concurrent.

Antonio Henry also pleaded guilty on April 9.  Henry, 28, got 20 years each for second-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.  His two terms also will be served at the same time.

Both Henry and Barnes admitted that they beat the pastor, but both insist the other was responsible for the 29 stab wounds.
