Special Events 

"Taking It Outside," a program that brings together theatre, visual arts, and audience interaction in a multi-generation context, will be presented by the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Chattanooga Theatre Centre on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Hunter. Theatre, Music & Dance

The CSO season will conclude on Saturday with a performance of Elvis & Mahler at 8 p.m. at the Tivoli Theatre. Guest artists Michael Daugherty and Benjamin Kamins will join the symphony for performances of Daugherty's Motown Metal and Dead Elvis, and Mahler's dramatic Symphony No. 5 will cap off the concert. The Center for Creative Arts Dance Department will present Suite Moves, an evening of original choreography in modern, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop featuring the Project Motion Dance Ensemble, Thursday-Friday at 7 p.m. in the CCA Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door. 

The Chattanooga State Opera Theatre will present Gilbert and Sullivan's opera Trial by Jury on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and a recital featuring students of voice, piano, violin, percussion, and guitar will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga State Humanities Theatre. The Covenant Jazz Ensemble will perform their spring concert on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Covenant College. "Slowing It Down: Slow Art and Mindful Awareness," a celebration of National Slow Art Day with an examination of a work in the Hunter galleries with a focus on meditative mindfulness and a guided slow flow yoga practice on the Hunter Terrace, will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m., and noted artist Albert Paley will speak on Thursday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at the Hunter Museum of American Art. The Association for Visual Arts will host a solo exhibition of work by multi-media artist Michael Murphy entitled "Wave of Mutilation" beginning Friday, May 3, with an opening reception from 5:30-8 p.m. A lecture by the artist will be held Thursday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. at the GPS auditorium.
