Sybil R. Sentell, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, April 6, 2013, to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity.

She recently celebrated her milestone birthday with her extended family, and had been a resident of Life Care of Collegedale, since July 2007.

Sybil was born in Sparta, Tn., on Feb. 24, 1923, was a graduate of Central High School's class of 1941, and attended Edmondson School of Business. She held various secretarial positions in the Chattanooga area before her marriage in January 1945.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, David C. Sentell, Sr., parents Grover C. Robinson, Sr. and Mary Eula Robinson, and sisters Corinne Robinson, and Nadia Horton. She was a loving wife, mother, and Mimi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Blessed with a green thumb, she could identify any tree, shrub, or flower native to the area, and loved to spend countless hours in the hot sun with her hands in the dirt. Our family will never forget her home-cooked Sunday dinners, and world's best banana pudding and cornbread.

Survivors include her sons, David C. Sentell, Jr. (Nancy) of Knoxville, Robin D. Sentell (Teresann) of Hixson, Dennis K. Sentell (Terry) of Hiram, Georgia; grandchildren Brent Sentell (Christy) of Chattanooga, Michael Sentell (Carla) of Kingsport, Kristen Robinson (Tommy) of Winterville, Ga.; great-grandchildren Ella Sentell, Jack Robinson, and Lily Sentell, brother Grover C. Robinson, Jr.(Mattie Lou) of Knoxville, sister, Maxine Wheeler of Chattanooga, brother-in-law, Joe Horton, Jr. of Hixson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member of Brainerd Church of Christ before moving to Martin Boyd Christian Home, and subsequently to Life Care. Although she was weakened by the effects of Parkinsons Disease, she never lost her beautiful smile or gentle caring spirit.

The family would like to thank the certified nurse assistants, registered nurses, and staff of Life Care of Collegedale for their kind and loving care during her last years. Contributions may be made in her name at Martin Boyd Christian Home, 6845 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. with Minister Joseph Horton IV officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 8, and 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9.
