Pastor Stanley Reuben Williams, “Shyne”, 66, of Chattanooga, Tennessee died on Friday, May 17, 2013 in a local hospital.

He was the senior pastor of the Eastdale Village Community United Methodist Church; founder of The Village Learning and Day Care Center; A National Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor; and co-host of WNOO 1260 AM radio show The Butt Naked Truth.  His ministry and calling extended beyond the pulpit through his empowering messages of faith and works towards the least, the lost, the last, and the left out.

He was one of the first seniors in the graduating class of Riverside High School in 1964 and a Viet Nam Veteran.  After many years of self and community destructive behaviors he like the prodigal son “came to himself.”  Following his conversion he became a community activist and social justice agitator. He embodied the beauty and legacy of African American history and tried to help everyone who wanted to transform their lives through the power of Jesus Christ name, blood, cross, and resurrection.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Helen Stabler Williams, his daughter, Charlotte Shynellen Williams, his son, Charles Stanley Yogi Williams, his grandson, Kenneth “Kyoz” Lebron Fuller, Jr.; three brothers, Dannie, Carlton, and Larry Williams and two sisters, Clara Render and Cathy Bragg; a devoted niece, Mahogany Williams; great-nephew, Quincy Jackson; sister-in-law, Gwenefred Allen Williams; loyal friends, Andy Hill, Billy Stegall, Wayne Hubbard, Rev. Bethel Hendricks, and Rev. John Lloyd Edwards; along with the faithful members of  Eastdale Village Community United Methodist Church; listening audience of  The Butt Naked Truth; caring neighbors; Pastor Jones and New Jerusalem Baptist Church; a multitude of family, friends, brothers and sisters- in- laws, daughters and sons in the ministry and the vanguards of the community.

The Ascension Celebration Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 3 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church.  If possible please wear purple/black or purple/white.

The body will have its final resting place at The National Cemetery on Monday, June 3, at 10 a.m.

The body will lie in state after noon on Saturday, June 1, and the family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
