John Calvin "J.C." Chastain, 87, of LaFayette, Georgia, died on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.
He was born in Trion, Ga., to the late John Henry and Alice Colbert Chastain. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had resided most of his life in LaFayette, Ga., where he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He worked at E.T. Barwick Mills for 20 years, Shaw Industries for 12 years and Mohawk Industries for three years.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dot Chastain, sons, Bruce and RogerChastain all of LaFayette, daughters, Pam (Wayne) Turner of Chickamauga, Peggy Ann (Don) Tobul of Madison, Oh., six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 5-8 p.m. and Monday morning until the funeral.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, in the funeral home chapel with Reverends Wayne Casteel and Mike Wallin officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens, LaFayette.
