Funeral services will be Wednesday for a Bradley Central graduate and her husband who died in a tragic auto crash on I-75 on Thursday night.

Karen Marshall Musgrove, 50, and husband, Russ Musgrove, 52, left behind three children.

They were  traveling south on I-75 south of Adairsville when their vehicle was hit from behind just before 9 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The patrol said their vehicle was struck by a 2008 BMW driven by Charles Porter Jr., 50, of Manchester, Tn. The Musgroves’ 2004 Ford Explorer was knocked down an embankment and they were dead at the scene.

Porter was arrested. The patrol said alcohol was suspected.

Karen Wallace Musgrove was born in 1964 to Gary Marshall and Suzanne Newman Wallace in Cleveland, Tn. She was a 1982 graduate of Bradley Central High School and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1986.

Her family said, "Karen touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a passion for music, tennis and loving on her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, friendship, loyalty and an infectious laugh will live on through cherished memories of all who knew her.

"Russ and Karen met in college at MTSU. From there they began a love story to be envied. They married on March 26, 1988. Russ soon settled into the insurance business and they began their family. They began their marriage in Nashville,  then moved to Hoover, Ala., and lived there for eight years before moving to Woodstock, Ga., in 2002. They were devoted and proud parents.

"They committed their lives to teaching them how to live an abundant life filled with hard work and lots of love. They loved being parents and took great joy in that privilege. They were active in their community and dedicated to their church, Hillside United Methodist, where Karen sang in the Praise Team for many years and Russ actively served in many capacities. They continued their love story as empty nesters by being loyal and joyful in their relationship. They enjoyed each other’s company and loved traveling together. As a celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary, they took their “trip of a lifetime” to Italy. They were true examples of how a Christian couple should parent, love and live. "

Russell Musgrove was  a 1981 graduate of Columbia Central High School. In 1985 he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. He was the vice president of claims for AXIS Insurance in Alpharetta, Ga.

The family said, "Russ was loved and respected by all who knew him. He had a passion for jazz music and leisurely motorcycle rides. His legacy of compassion, commitment, and love for others will continue through all who knew him."

Their children are Russell Brent Musgrove, Jr., 24, Jake Marshall Musgrove, 22, and Emily Suzanne Musgrove, 19.

A memorial service will be held at Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Ga., on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with visitation following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Karen and Russ Musgrove to the library at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN.
