Abel Carmona, Jr., 20, of Dalton, GA, died Wednesday evening, June 18, 2014.  

Abel was born November 10, 1993 in Dalton, GA.  He was a 2012 graduate of Southeast High School and was employed by Aztec Drywall.  He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Albina Ocanas.

He is survived by his parents, Abel and Antonia Mena Carmona, Sr.; sisters and brother-in-law, Marisol Carmona-Lara and Antonio Lara, Mayra Carmona Mejia and Alma Carmona Mejia; nieces and nephew, Vanessa Martinez, Adamaris Lara and William Lara all of Dalton, GA; grandparents, Emilio Carmona of Mexico City, Mexico, Carolina Salaises and Juan Mena both of Dalton, GA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Duvan Gonzalez officiating. He will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Fernando Perez, Vicente Mena, Jorge Cuevas, Eric Carmona, Leonardo Perez and Victor Mendiola serving as pallbearers.  

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 23 and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 24.

Ponders Melrose Chapel, Dalton has charge of the arrangements.
