James Alvin Jones, 80, of Jasper, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lindsey and Edith Jones; and siblings, Edward Jones, Ernestine King, Geraldine Pilgrim, Madgaline Jennings & Frank Jones.
He was well known for his sense of humor, love of football and love of family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew & loved him.
He is survived by his son, Greg "Jones" Hamman (Commila); granddaughter, Tristen Todd (David) of Greenville, SC ; twin brother, Alton Jones (Joann) of Jasper; special niece, Cyndy (Sherwin) Smith of Chattanooga; special nephew, Brandon Jones (Kim) of Jasper; many other nieces and nephews; and special friend, Linda Headley.
A special thanks to NHC of Dunlap & Hospice of Chattanooga for their kind and compassionate care given to Alvin during his residence there.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. CDT, Sunday, August 3, with Rev. Greg Hamman and Bro. Roger Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Baptist Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. CDT, until time of the service on Sunday, August 3 at Tate Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
