Lois Greer
Lois Grant Greer, 93, of Rossville, Georgia died in the arms of her sister Friday, September 26, 2014, at a local hospital.
She was the first child of William Richard and Myrtle Grant.  Born in Tioga, LA on May 16, 1921, she spent 92 years as a Chattanooga area resident.  Lois retired from Siskin Steel and Supply Company in 1988 after completing 43 years of service.  She was faithful to her Lord as she served as teacher of the JOY Sunday School Class and was active in the Bridgebuilders and WMU.  Her husband, Gene, served as minister of music in several area churches where Lois was always by his side.  She was committed to her family and assisted as a care giver for her father-in-law, Rufus, her mother and her brother, Jack.  She always wanted everybody to be happy, enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a smile, even as her husband introduced her saying, “This is my wife, Lois.  She’s in charge of confusion”.  Although Lois won’t be remembered as a Chef, her deviled eggs were legendary among family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Eugene Greer in 1987; brother, John William (Bill) Grant in 2007; brother, Richard Jackson (Jack) Grant in 2009; sister-in-law, Joyce (Raymond) Grant in 1994 and sister-in-law, Bobbie Sue (Bill) Grant in 2010.
Survivors include brothers, Raymond Mark Grant and Jay Montgomery (Margie) Grant of Chattanooga and sister Doris Anne (David) DeLoach of Waco, TX. Nephews include John (Jane) Grant of Chattanooga, Monty (Melody) Grant of Ocala, FL, David (Bobbie) Grant and their daughters Meri, Ashley and Sophia of Jonesboro, TN. and Terry Greer of Murfreesboro, TN.  Nieces include Betsy Grant of Monteagle, Janet Embrey of Fallston, MD, Judy (Rick) Driggans and son Andy of Chattanooga, and Susan (Dewayne) Roberson and sons Grant and Jonathan of Trenton, GA.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Lois’s caregivers “Head Angel” Carolyn Phipps and her “Angel Band”: Lacey Twomey, Karen Ray, Becky Robertson, Sonja Westfelt,  Ashley Davis and the late Donna Craven.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Rossville, P.O. Box 204, Rossville, Ga. 30741.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, at Rossville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Paul Williams, Reverend David Grant, Reverend Dewayne Roberson and Reverend David Tullock officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home and from noon until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
