Hickory Wind Bluegrass will perform at Ringgold Depot April 10.
The Share America Foundation will host the Hickory Wind Bluegrass Band on Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ringgold Depot, corner of Depot Street and U.S. 41 in Ringgold. Randall Franks from TV's "In the Heat of the Night” will emcee.
Review for Hickory Wind Bluegrass Band:
With more than 20 years of performing for fairs, bluegrass festivals and churches, and chart songs played around the world, Hickory Wind shares an uplifting brand of gospel music that will touch hearts and minds, according to Franks.
“Each member of this wonderful band brings a long history of performing and sharing their talents live, on radio and on television,” Mr. Franks said. “I know that folks will be blessed to hear what they will be singing about.”
Jerry and Helen Burke share a legacy of music that includes them among the classic country performers of Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas, Texas with radio releases beginning in 1956.
In addition to being included among the regular acts appearing in Nashville with their Country Pride Band, they appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, Ernest Tubb Record Shop Midnight Jamboree. George Morgan and Webb Pierce were among the many stars that the couple supported with their musical talents.
Also performing with the band are Paul Flood on banjo, Albert Blair on guitar and Craig Payne on bass. Hickory Wind was honored in 2013 with induction into the International Country Music Hall of Fame.
The event is a fundraiser for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship Fund. The Share America Foundation, Inc., a Georgia non-profit, presents scholarships to talented musicians who excel in the Appalachian musical arts.
