Regina “Jean” Verner, 74, of Chatsworth, Georgia, died Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.
Jean was born May 5, 1941 in Cherokee County, NC, a daughter of the late Edgar and Mamie Coleman Painter; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Parks Donald “Bozo” Verner; and sisters, Betty Allgood and Marie Russell Hix.
Jean was retired from Shaw Industries and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Chris Jaquay, Lisa Verner, Jessica and Mitchell Eubanks all of Chatsworth, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Vent and Cheryl Verner of Dalton, GA, Harold and Lisa Verner, James and Cyndi Verner, Jeffery and Sharon Verner all of Chatsworth, GA; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Reverend William and Dorothy Painter; sisters, Ann and Fred Morrow, Reba Chastain and Tommy Stehpens all of Tunnel Hill, GA; an dseveral nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jean Verner will be held Sunday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church (2215 Maddox Chapel Road, Dalton, GA) with her nephews, Reverend Jeff Panter, Reverend Chris Gibson and Reverend Shane Gibson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Lee Deal, Tommy Keener, Jason Verner, Allen Verner, Joe Verner and Patrick Verner serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel, who has charge of the arrangements, from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, June 20 and after 10 a.m. Sunday, June 21 until the service hour.
