William Elmer "Bud" DeSha, Jr. 81, of Hixson, died on Thursday, January 21, 2016.

He retired from Combustion Engineering as a General Foreman of Quality Control after 45 years of service. Bud loved the Lord and faithfully served at Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. and Marjorie; daughter, Susan and brother, Don.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon DeSha of Hixson; son, David (Julie) DeSha of Hixson; step-daughter, Tammy Griffin of Gainsville, GA; sister, Judy (Kenneth) Reece of Ellijay; grandchildren, Casey and Seth DeSha and Natalia Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Stancil and Reverend Brooks Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. Patrick Harvey, Harrison Chandler, Tommy Million, Joe Lewis, David Davis and Bruce Whelton will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to their Hearth Hospice caregivers, Lora, Samantha and Sharon. They are sincerely grateful to niece and nephew, Patrick and Destiny Harvey and the numerous friends who have lovingly served them during this time.
