The Karen Lawrence Run has been held on New Year’s Eve in downtown Chattanooga since 1979.
The run is in memory of Karen Lawrence, who battled leukemia from nine to 11-years-old. She started the first race but she passed away three months later. This year, the race benefits children and their families in need at the Ronald McDonald House. Over 400 participants ran or walked in 2015 and helped raise $24,000. Visit
