The Covenant volleyball team stretched its win streak to seven with a pair of USA South victories on Saturday inside Barnes PE Center. Covenant defeated Piedmont 3-1 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-13) before sweeping LaGrange 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, 25-17).

The victory over Piedmont gave head coach Joanna Ehman for 100th career victory.
Ehman is easily the fastest coach to 100 wins in program history as it took her just 154 matches to achieve the feat. Her current career winning percentage of .651 (101-54) sits atop the program record books.

Covenant (15-7, 9-0 USA South) has won seven straight and continues to pull away from the rest of the pack in the USA South West Division with three conference matches remaining.

MATCH ONE: Covenant 3, Piedmont 1

Covenant took the first two sets and then stormed to a fourth set victory to take the 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-13 match win.

Hannah Harris led a balanced Covenant attack with 10 kills, while Ginny Moore had nine and Jessica Seehorn and Schuyler Moore with eight apiece. Defensively, Ginny Moore led the way with 18 digs and Emily Moore added 16. Hannah Stewart and Seehorn had nine each.

Covenant accumulated 12 kills in the opening set and built a 19-12 lead after a Harris kill before holding on for the 25-20 game win. In the second, the Lady Scots never trailed and again built a comfortable lead midway through the set at 20-12. A combined block from Taylor and Ginny Moore gave Covenant a 2-0 match lead.

Piedmont remained in the match after collecting a tight, 25-23 third set win. But in the fourth set, Covenant went on a 13-4 run to break open a close score and cruise to the four-set victory.

Brianna Gilbert led Piedmont (10-9, 4-3 USA South) with nine kills, while Lainey Choiniere had 19 assists. Haley Hixon led all players with her 27 digs.

MATCH TWO: Covenant 3, LaGrange 0

Covenant eked out two-point wins in both the first and second sets and then secured the sweep of LaGrange with a commanding third set win to pick up a 25-23, 30-28, 25-17 victory to finish the day.

Ginny Moore and Seehorn each had 10 kills for the Lady Scots, while Schuyler Moore tallied 37 assists and seven kills. Harris added nine kills and Allie Jakes netted six. Ginny Moore also led the way with 16 digs with Seehorn tallying 10. Taylor and Stewart each had 12 digs in the win.

The first set saw nine ties and five lead changes, but Covenant was able to score the final two points, on consecutive kills from Schuyler Moore, to hold off the visiting Panthers. In the second set, Covenant trailed for much of the game and the Lady Scots were down 17-11 at one point. Covenant chipped away at the deficit drew to within one point six times before finally catching up at 23-23 on a Seehorn kill. Both teams staved off set points until a kill by Ginny Moore and an error on LaGrange gave Covenant the 30-28 win.

Covenant then used that momentum to pull away from LaGrange in the third set and complete the sweep.

Maggie Ivester had 10 kills for LaGrange (10-11, 2-6 USA South). Libby Compton tallied 15 assists and Cierra Terry had a match-high 22 digs.
