Kerry Steelman To Lead Roundtable Discussion On Online Voter Registration

  • Monday, November 6, 2017
Kerry Steelman, Hamilton County’s Administrator of Elections, will lead a roundtable discussion on online voter registration at the League of Women Voters’ November meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Chattanooga Public Library, downtown branch, 1001 Broad St. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Library’s first-floor auditorium and is open to the public.

Online voter registration became available in Tennessee in September. “Whether using a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone, you can register from anywhere,” Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett said at the official announcement of the online system at Roane State Community College on Sept.
6 (see http://wate.com/2017/09/06/tennessee-launches-online-voter-registration/).  According to Secretary Hargett, registering online “ensures applications are filled out correctly and completely, which saves voters time in the long run.”

Anyone with questions about online voter registration is invited to attend the Nov. 9 discussion. Light refreshments will be served.
