Andrew Edwin Sims, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in a Murfreesboro hospital.  

He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was self-employed as a concrete finisher, and was also a minister of the gospel.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alfonso Sims, Sr.; mother, Rose Sims; and wife, Lila Sims. 

Survivors include his son, Andre (Marcelle) Caldwell of Hixson; daughter, Angela (Calvin) Callaway of Frankfurt, Germany; stepson, John Clay of Nashville; stepdaughters, Lackesia Young and Coretha “Rita” Kendricks, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Arziel Callaway, Andre Callaway, Derrick Greene, Telly Petty, Jr., and Olivia Clay; uncle, Wallace Beard of Watertown TN; aunt, Georgie Wooten of Galveston, TX; great-uncle, Andrew Barnes of Lebanon, TN; nephew, Alfonso Sims, Jr.; Ricky Johnson, Rozz Johnson, Chuck Toney, all who were like his children; a host of other relatives. 

He will lie in state on Monday, April 17, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 18, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Minister Benjamin Parsons as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
