Mary Joyce Hoskins Williams, 87, of East Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Rosewood Assisted Living.
Mrs. Williams was born on October 23, 1929 in Rossville, Georgia. She graduated from Rossville High School and later attended Tennessee Temple College. She retired from First Federal Savings and Loans of Chattanooga after many years of service. She was a Christian, having professed Christ as her savior at an early age. She was a member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a lifelong member of the Allemande Hall where she loved square-dancing. Joyce loved traveling, and had traveled to every state expect Alaska. She also loved and cared for her terrier named “Josie.” She volunteered for CHI Memorial in Chattanooga for many years and also served as a Big Sister with the Chattanooga Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization. Joyce and her husband had no children of their own but were instrumental in the lives of their many nieces, nephews, friends and neighborhood children.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59½ years, James Clyde “Jake” Williams; her parents, Floyd and Annie Clark Hoskins, brother, Ray L. (Florence Anna) Hoskins, sisters, Evelyn (Hal Sr.) Wilson, Margaret (Rufus) Henry, Doris Hoskins Grice, niece, Linda Joy Porter, nephew, Stevie Lawson, life-long friends, J.W. and Virginia Dodd and their families.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews who brought lots of love to her life, Cathy and Steve Lawson, Anna (Tim) Horn, Hal Wilson Jr., O. Henry Porter, great nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Tommy) Duffy, Mark Chambers, Amy Chambers, Ryan Horn, Hal (Denise) Wilson III, Elizabeth Wilson, Ellen (Don) Reeves, Julie (Mauricio) Santos, brother-in-law, Bobby Grice.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Craig Westbrook officiating.
