Sylvia Pointer
Sylvia Marie Pointer, 70, died on April 29, 2017.
She was born May 10, 1946, to the late James D. Pearson and Mary Ophelia Orr. She was a faithful member of Rose Of Sharon Baptist Church and retired from Olan Mills after 40 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Honey” Pointer; sister, Tarra Jones; stepfather, Jessie Jones.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Darren (Jennifer) Pointer; sisters, Berlinda Jones and Sophia Jones; seven grandchildren, four nieces, two nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, May 4, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
