University Surgical Welcomes 2 New Surgeons

University Surgical Associates (USA) welcomes Erica R. Clark, D.O. and John C. Huggins, M.D., to the team of surgeons providing specialized surgical care to patients in the Chattanooga area.

“This is an exciting time in the history of University Surgical as we gain two outstanding surgeons who will enhance our services in vascular, breast and general surgery,” says Michael S. Greer, M.D., president of University Surgical Associates. “With new surgical advances continuing to change the practice of medicine and treatment options for our patients, we’re thrilled to have physicians of their quality and experience join our team.” 

Erica R. Clark, D.O., RPVI, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who specializes in treating circulatory conditions including carotid disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), thoracic aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), mesenteric/renal artery disease, venous disorders including varicose veins and more. She graduated from Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed internship and residency training at Spartanburg Regional Health Center and a vascular fellowship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga, Department of Surgery. 

John C. Huggins, M.D. is a general and breast surgeon who specializes in abdominal surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder disease, sentinel node biopsies, and breast conservation surgery. He is trained in advanced laparoscopy as well as stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy techniques. Dr. Huggins graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed internship and residency training at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga, Department of Surgery.

Phillip Burns, M.D., surgeon with University Surgical Associates and Chairman and Professor of Surgery with UTCOMC. “With the addition of Dr. Huggins and Dr. Clark, USA is gaining outstanding surgeons who will enhance our breadth of expertise as well as expand the already robust surgical education program in Chattanooga.”

Dr. Clark is accepting new patients at the University Surgical Associates office at 2108 E. 3rd Street (between Willow and Kelly Streets). Dr. Huggins is accepting new patients at the University Surgical Associates office at 1751 Gunbarrel Rd., Suite G-11 (on the campus of Erlanger East Hospital).
