Schmitt, Margie Eunice Griffith

Margie Eunice Griffith Schmitt, 80, of Rossville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. She had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of Pathway Baptist Church. She was active in her church and was always going above and beyond for those she loved. She was a wonderful cook and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by several siblings; Bill Campbell, Geneva Henley, Eula May Hedges, and Albert Griffith.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 56 years, Leon Schmitt; children, Cindy (Jerry) Lowery and Keith Schmitt all of Rossville; sisters, Christine Davis of Murfreesboro, Tn., Edna Higgins of Rossville, and Eloise Grimes of East Ridge; two grandchildren, Tiffany (Courtney) Johnson and Zach Byers; four great grandchildren, Jax, Riley, and Cooper Johnson and Brylee Byers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
