Police said a youth who had just turned 17 kicked and kneed them during a burglary arrest on Tuesday at Woodland View Circle in Piney Woods.
Officers finally used pepper spray in the face of the juvenile and were able to get him handcuffed and face down on the ground. They said it was then noticed that his head was in an ant hill. He was taken for medical help on an allergic reaction to ant bites. Eventually he and two other juveniles charged in the break-in were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Also arrested was Tyrie Benford, 18, of 708 E. 48th St.
Police were told that four black males were seen breaking into a unit where a girl was sleeping. They made off with three TVs, an Xbox One, a laptop computer and a white safe.
Officers were told the suspects included one with long dreads, two with short dreads and one with a sort of low afro cut.
Officers checked an address where the youths allegedly took the items. Inside were the female resident along with three young black males - two with short dreads and one with a sort of low afro cut. Also spotted were TVs and an Xbox matching the description of the stolen items.
The tenant said none of the items belonged to her and she wanted them removed. She said the males were "cousins" and they needed to leave immediately.
Outside, a youth with long dreads was identified as the fourth suspect. Police said he assaulted them repeatedly as they were trying to get him into a patrol car.
The stolen items were returned to the residence they came from.
