East Ridge's Larry Clark was battling mosquitoes on his 30th Tennessee River Rescue.

Mr. Clark, who was one of the founders of river and creek cleanup, was honored by East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert at a city council meeting.

The mayor noted the city gave him a similar honor a decade earlier.

Mr. Clark said this year volunteers gathered with him to work on cleaning Spring Creek. He said the mosquitoes were so bad that the group had to call a retreat after an hour and a half.

However, in that time, 450 pounds of trash and eight tires were removed from the creek.

The good news is that there are county funds ... (click for more)
