Anne Farrow

Anne Fleming Farrow died peacefully in Dalton, Georgia on October 28, 2018, at age 86.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1931 to the late Bruce and Estelle Fleming, graduated from Penn State in 1953, and lived in Dalton since 1960.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Royal T. Farrow, and her sister, Mary Jane Baron.

Service to her community and church were cornerstones of her life. During her 58 years in Dalton, she volunteered and served in leadership roles for many groups, including: chairman of the Board of Directors and member of the Board of Trustees, Creative Arts Guild; Board of Directors, Dalton-Whitfield Community Foundation; Judicial-Citizen Review Panel, Whitfield County Juvenile Court; member and chairman, Dalton Recreation Commission (1979-82); and president, Whitfield-Murray County Medical Auxiliary. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Dalton’s competitive swimming program and played a key role in the Dalton Dolphins’ decision to join the Chattanooga Swim League in 1972. Since coming to Dalton, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, and recently served on its Building Committee. Her passions were her family, painting, dogs, and spending time with friends.

She is survived by three children and five grandchildren: Stephen B. Farrow of Dalton and his children Hardy and Fleming; Scott A. Farrow (Susan) of Dunwoody, Ga. and their children Andrew and Emily; and Diane F. Williams of Dalton and her son Harrison; nine nieces and nephews and their families.

The family thanks all of her many caregivers for their loving care, including Lisa Barnett, Kissey Washington, Sharon Vance, and the staffs of Tranquility of Dalton and the Gardens at Royal Oaks.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m. in the Commons of the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, 101 S. Selvidge St.

A service honoring her life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roy and Anne Farrow Foundation, c/o Community Foundation NW Georgia, P.O. Box 942, Dalton, GA 30722-0942. Foundation funds will be used to support charitable causes in the Dalton area dear to Roy and Anne Farrow.
