McMillon, William "Bill" (Ringgold)

  • Monday, October 8, 2018

William “Bill” McMillon, 81, of Ringgold, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2018.  He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life, and was a member and deacon at Ringgold First Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam era.  He was previously employed with the Catoosa County School System as a bus driver for more than 18 years, and also with Hess Oil as a superintendent for several years. He loved to sing in the Church choir, and adored the community of Ringgold. He served the city of Ringgold as a councilman from 1995 – 2011 and as vice mayor from 2006 – 2008. He was instrumental in so many areas of the building and rebuilding projects in Ringgold, such as the Children’s Park, Creek Walk, The Depot and the New City Hall building. He was a loving and devoted brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and more importantly, a man of God who led by example with his faith and unconditional love, his wisdom and support.  His knowledge and his conversations about anything and everything will live on in the memories of his family and friends, who will truly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.W. McMillon and his loving wife, Patricia “Pat” McMillon.

Survivors include his children, Cathy McMillon, of Ringgold, Debbie (Scott) McMillon Henry, of Greeneville, SC, William “Scott” (Peg) McMillon, of Ringgold and Tammy (Randall) McMillon Smith, of Odessa, Tx.; sister, Minerva Kelley, of Jacksonville, Fl.; grandchildren, Shauna Hackler, Graham (Tyler Dale) Williams, Colten Smith, Jesse McMillon, Austin Williams (fiancé Kelsey Eberhart), Layten Smith and Carlee Smith; great-grandchildren, Thomas Hackler, III, Liam Hackler and Connor Hackler; and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 in the Ringgold First Baptist Church, with Pastor Eric Kennedy officiating.  The family will hold a private burial after the services.  The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday.  Visitation will also be available from noon-2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
