Etheleen Dunn Couey, 96, a resident of Cleveland, and formerly of Reliance, Tn. passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018. She was a member of Cookson Creek Baptist Church and, at her death, was the oldest member of the church. She loved canning, cooking for her family and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bryant Couey; parents, John and Ella Boring Dunn; and brother, T.L. Dunn.
She is survived by her daughters, Una Merrell (Fred), Onecia Longley (John), Lecetia Cate (Jerry), Evetia Kincaid (David) and Chenia Patterson; grandchildren, Greg Merrell, Kim Pirkle, July Melton, Tyler Longley, Carroll Cate, Patti Frazier, Chonia Patterson and Amber Ervin; great-grandchildren, Halee and Holly Merrell, Madeline Pirkle, John Lovell, Knox and Kennedy Cate, Angel Royse, Brandi Wolfe, Miranda Bell, Hunter and Landan Ervin, Cody Buckner, Daylon Martin, Cameron and Brock and Garrett Gonyea; great-great grandchildren, Lili and Mason Royse, Cameron and Dylan Wolfe and Hattie Bell; niece, Marcela True; and nephew, Johnny Dunn.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Reverend Benny Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Hiwassee Union Cemetery, with Greg Merrell, Daniel Pirkle, Tyler Longley, Chris Melton, Carroll Cate and Zack Ervin serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the funeral home, prior to the service.
