James Jackson
James L. Jackson Sr., 80, a resident of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
He was a Howard High School graduate, class of 1956. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 29 years of service as a supervisor. His hobbies were fishing and being on his computer. He was born August 8, 1938 to the late Essie and Haywood Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters Betty Ann Floyd, Bennie Sue Toney, and his wife of 55 years, Shirley S. Jackson.
He was a former member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Anthony Jackson, Marietta, GA, James Jr., Vanessa (Samuel) Johnson Sr., and Donna (Richard) Morris Sr.; grandchildren, Anthony and Robert Canion, Omaha, NE., Euvon (Pandora) Turner, San Antonio , TX., Yvonne Turner, Lincoln, NE., James Jackson III, Little Rock, AR., Justin Jackson, Atlanta, GA., Latoya Forrester, Dalton, GA, Simone Worbington, Ashley and Christian Jackson, Marietta, GA., Kirsten Jackson, Phoenix, AZ.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
