Rev. Edward Lee Griggs, 88, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born in Athens, Tn. to the late, Nep & Fannie Griggs and had lived and served in the Nashville, Clarksville, Atlanta and Chattanooga areas for most of his life. He was a truly faithful man of God, who dedicated his life in serving The Lord as a minister in numerous churches over the years. He will always be remembered for his love of others and never meeting a stranger. He loved reading his books and, most importantly, studying the Bible. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, that will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Marie Smith Griggs and several siblings.
Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Lee Denton and Mary Beth & Hal Mathews; three grandchildren, Jayne Hutchins, Chris Mathews and Jeff Mathews; two great-grandchildren, Haley Mathews and Abby Mathews; and numerous extended family & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the South Rossville Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and from noon until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
