Chief Robert Simpson
Red Bank’s Chief of Police Robert Simpson has submitted his resignation, saying it was time for him to retire after 33 years in law enforcement.
Chief Simpson had taken over in Red Bank in September of last year after John Wright was the interim for three months when Tim Christol left. Captain Wright will once again be the interim. He is currently second in command.
He previously was with the Chattanooga Police Department for 28 years and the South Pittsburgh Police Department for the past two years.
Mayor John Roberts said, "He just said it was time for him to enjoy his retirement and I don't blame him.
"He loves to ride his BMW motorcycle and he is going to be doing a lot more of that."
Mayor Roberts said he expects City Manager Tim Thornbury will name an interim chief and began a replacement process after the first of the year.
He said the services of the Municipal Technical Assistance Service (MTAS) may be used in the search.
