Lee University volleyball standout Silvia Sartori was named to the D2CCA First-Team All-Region and MaKayla Beebe was announced Second-Team All-Region on Wednesday afternoon.
“Silvia and MaKayla are so deserving of these region awards,” praised Lee’s head coach Andrea Hudson.
Sartori played in 116 matches in her career amassing 1,583 kills on, 111 aces, 1,271 digs, and 1,765.5 points. The Serbia native recorded 510 kills in 115 sets played while hitting .197 on the year. Sartori, a senior outside hitter, posted 404 digs and 584.5 points to finish out her time at Lee.
Sartori finished the year eighth in kills per set in the NCAA D2 with 4.43 kills per set and sixth in total kills on the year.
“Silvia could not have asked for a better season as our top outside hitter and captain. Her career at Lee has been stellar and she is the type of player you love to see win these awards,” Hudson noted.
Beebe played in 119 matches for Lee and recorded 1,915 digs in her career. In 2018 the senior libero played in 107 sets and recorded 625 total digs. Beebe finished out the year in the 25th slot in total digs while rounding out the year 21st in Division II averaging 5.84 per set.
“We are really going to miss MaKayla as well. Such a dynamic defensive player that never held back from 100 percent effort at all times. To be recognized by the region is quite an honor for her with so many dynamic liberos in the conference,” concluded Hudson.
Those named to the first team will advance to the All-American ballot.
