Carl Franklin Hamilton, 76, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, at his home.

Carl was born in Cleveland on Feb. 5, 1942, a son of the late C. L. & Florence Maddux Hamilton. He was a 6th generation Bradley Countian. Carl was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church and loved attending there. He loved singing and could “Sing Like A Bird”. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. Carl worked in the early 70’s for his brothers at the Hamilton Food Center. After leaving the food center he went on and worked with his brother Jackie for 20 plus years in the car business. Lastly before retirement, he worked in the maintenance department for TDOT for 23 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie L. Hamilton and Loye V. Hamilton, one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Hamilton and two brothers-in-law, Mike Pierce and John P. Eldridge.

Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 44 years, Eva Ann Hamilton, one daughter, Stephanie Ann Hamilton, three sisters, Frances Pierce, Joye Goodner (Jim) and Juanita Eldridge, one brother, Bill Hamilton (Debra), sister-in-law, Sharon Hamilton, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at North Cleveland Baptist Church, 2815 N. Ocoee Street in Cleveland, Tn. A celebration of Carl’s life will follow at 12 p.m. at the church with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. 

Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens with his nephews, Mike Pierce, David Goodner, Jeff Eldridge, Rob Hamilton, Joel Goodner, Matt Hamilton and Brad Hamilton serving as pallbearers.
