Mountain Cove Highlights Hymn Singing At Hullander Farm In Apison

  • Monday, November 19, 2018

Mountain Cove highlighted the November “Red Back Hymnal Hymn Sing” at the Hullander farm in Apison. The Gospel Bluegrass group has won many awards in their field and makes their home in the Chattanooga area.

Also on hand for the monthly singing was special guest Rev. Jerry Mattheiss, former song leader at Highland Park Baptist Church for many years. Former State Rep. Richard Floyd was also in attendance leading several songs. Hamilton County Trustee Bill Hullander even twisted WDYN’s Tom Sneed's arm to lead a selection out of the Red Back.

Jack Clark pianist for the Landmark Hour in Cincinnati and Sue Gray with the Billy Gray Quartet accompanied the audience. Retired senior County Commissioner Curtis Adams has been at most of the events since Trustee Hullander and his wife Linda started them four years ago.  Commissioner Adams is known as the un-official greeter giving everyone a smile and friendly hello.

The free event is held the third Sunday of every month at the Hullander Farm on London Lane to promote old-time hymn singing.
