Several area institutions and organizations will join Hospice of Chattanooga in illuminating their buildings to “Paint Chattanooga Purple” on the evening of Monday, Nov. 5, in observation of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.

“Driving around the region on the evening of Monday, Nov. 5, you will be able to see buildings and landmarks everywhere beautifully illuminated in the color purple,” Tracy Wood, president and CEO of Hospice of Chattanooga, said.

“Hospice of Chattanooga and our partners want everyone in our community to recognize how important end of life care-giving is to the wonderful quality of life we enjoy in the Tennessee Valley and beyond. We are recognizing the many medical professionals, chaplains, volunteers and countless others who give so much of themselves to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people who facing an end-of-life journey--and also the continued care for the loved ones they will leave behind,” Ms. Wood said.

Among those joining Hospice of Chattanooga in support of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and the region-wide awareness campaign are:

Chambliss Law Firm
Chattanooga Convention Center
EPB
Erlanger Health System
Hunter Museum of Art
Ruby Falls
Tennessee Aquarium
The Westin Chattanooga

This year makes the 40th consecutive year in which November has been designated as a month-long national effort to raise awareness for hospice care. National Hospice and Palliative Care Month recognizes "the strength and compassion of the professionals and volunteers who help people live with dignity, comfort and support at the end of life."
