UTC Women Host Liberty Wednesday

  • Tuesday, November 20, 2018
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will continue its Virginia foray Wednesday with a match up against Liberty University located in Lynchburg, Va. The Mocs just completed a two-game road trip into Old Dominion state and will travel back this coming weekend for the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville.

The Mocs and Flames have never met before this season. However, this will be Liberty’s second trip to the McKenzie Arena. The Flames played in the 2005 NCAA Sweet 16 at the Roundhouse, taking on LSU.

The Mocs are 2-2 on the year with identical 1-1 home and away marks.
UTC opened with a win over Lee at home then posted a win over Hampton in its first road game. However, the Mocs could not keep the streak going, falling in the second game at home to No. 5 Louisville and then at Virginia Tech in the second of two road games.

Lakelyn Boudlin scored a game-high 21 points in the loss to the Hokies and leads the team with 12.5 points per game. Freshmen Eboni Williams and Abbey Cornelius lead Chattanooga on the boards with 5.5 and 5.3 rebounds respectively. Williams is second on the team in scoring with 8.8 points and Morgan Hill and Shelbie Davenport each have contributed 7.0 points per game.

The Flames are 1-2 on the year. Liberty opened the season with an overtime loss at Bethune-Cookman then followed that with a home-opening loss to Virginia Tech (72-61). Liberty rebounded with a win against Saint Francis (PA). The Flames average 73 points per game and are led in scoring by Emily Lytle. She is one of three players averaging double figures. Ashtyn Baker is second on the team in scoring with 10.7 ppg and Ria Gulley is averaging 10 points per game. Bridgette Rettstatt is fourth on the team with 9.0 points per game and has a team-best 9.7 rebounds per game. Lytle has eight 3-pointers and Baker leads the team with seven steals.
