Willie Lee “Shot Caller” Sims, Sr. 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at a local hospital.  

He was a faithful member and Deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. Willie and his wife Shirley joined Mount Canaan Baptist Church. He was a former factory worker at Wheland Foundry for over 38 years.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Jonah and Carrie Sims, Sr.; brothers, Jonah, Robert and John Sims; sisters, Mattie Jennings and Fannie Rivers; sons; Willie Sims, Jr. and Jeffery Sims.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 18 years, Shirley Sims; sons, Noble (Azelia) Sims and Offord “Rudy” (Natalie) Sims; stepchildren, Randolph Gaines, Rodney Gaines, and Veronica Jackson; goddaughter, Linda Zeigler; sisters, Grace Whitlow, Bernice Mulberry, Adella Flemister, and Geneva Sims; brothers, Daniel Sims and Ransom Sims; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-great-grandchildren; devoted cousin, Mildred Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 23, from 4-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at Mount Canaan Baptist Church with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
