Bessie Smith
Bessie Marie Smith, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday morning, November 21, 2018, in a local health care facility.
She was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bessie Julia Thompson; son, Pascal Leon Smith, Jr.; brothers, Harold Thompson and Charlie Thompson, Jr.; and sister, Theresa Arnold.
Survivors include her loving and devoted family: daughter, Patsy (Johnny) Heard; grandson, Timothy Keith, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Timeka (Reginald, Jr.) Kemp, Marquist (Daria) Keith, Timothy (Shaude) Keith, Jr., James (Cara) Stallion, and Cya Towles, all of Chattanooga; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Thompson of Cleveland, OH; brother-in-law, Axle Arnold of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
She will lie in state on Saturday, Nov. 24, after 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at noon in Forest Hills Cemetery.
