Edwin McCain
Edwin Hunter McCain of Chattanooga, 85, was born on January 17, 1933, to Edwin Hart McCain and Agnes Elizabeth McCain, and passed away on November 20, 2018.
He married Judy Elder on November 23, 1956, and was three days shy of 62 years of marriage. His passions were his family, friends, weekly poker games, and his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and worked for 30 years at Provident Insurance Company. During the Korean War, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Chester O’Brien, DE421.
Hunter was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy McCain and sister, Betty Tinker.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter, Lisa (Ed) Cordell, daughter, Carolyn (Russ) Carboni, son, Joe (Janet) McCain, and Ann (Scott) Shelby, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, brother, Tom (Suzy) McCain, sister, Florence Shirley, and brother, Jim (Tina) McCain.
The family will celebrate his life on Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral mass with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Inurnment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Catholic Church in his memory.
