Review of Generation of Warriors:
Generation of Warriors - Have you ever thought of the families who lived on lands where Civil War battles took place? What did they do when fighting broke out at their front doors? The Dyers, along with the Brothertons and the Kelleys, were among families who resided in North Georgia where the Battle of Chickamauga occurred in September 1863. Did these families engage in battle? Did they survive? This historical novel presents a plausible scenario of events that places its focus on the family of thirty-five year old Spillsby Dyer, an officer in the Confederate Army, who lived on these grounds and was a father of eight children during the Civil War. Loaded with historical facts, Short’s writings allow the reader to recognize the impossible circumstances that these families encountered.
