The volunteers of the RSVP Program (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) of Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults are putting their elf hats on and taking 103 students at Hillcrest Elementary a pair of pajamas that they can wear to school for their special Polar Express winter celebration. Many of these students are typically lacking warm clothes and pajamas, so this effort will give them a little extra during a difficult holiday season.
“The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program’s mission is to assist volunteers age 55 and over find meaningful volunteer opportunities in which they can share their experience, abilities and skills for the betterment of their community and themselves,” said Joyce Lloyd, program manager.
Last year, RSVP adopted 40 children from Calvin Donaldson Elementary school and are continuing this holiday tradition for 2018.
“Our volunteers love giving back to our community through this Polar Express PJ’s for Kids Program,” said Ms.
Lloyd.
