The Chattanooga Mocs move on to the second of three straight in the Roundhouse Saturday afternoon. The squad welcomes Tennessee Tech with a 2 p.m., tipoff looking for the first back-to-back wins of the campaign.
It’s a battle of two teams looking to find their stride. The Mocs are 3-5 with wins over Charlotte, Cumberland and Hiwassee, while the Golden Eagles enter at 1-6 topping ULM last week before a close defeat to Winthrop at home Wednesday.
Tuesday night’s win over the Tigers featured five double-figure scorers for the first time in 2018-19.
Jerry Johnson, Jr., led the way with 20, while Donovann Toatley and David Jean-Baptiste turned in 19 apiece. Justin Brown and Kevin Easley added 14 and 11, respectively.
Johnson, Toatley and Jean-Baptiste earned season highs with a career best for Jean-Baptiste. It was the first time since March 5, 2004 against Georgia Southern in the Southern Conference semifinals that a Mocs trio tallied 19 or more points each in a game that ended in regulation. That group all topped 20 led by Chris Brown’s 24 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Champion and Ray Trowell both had 20.
