UTC Men Travel To Charlotte Tuesday

Monday, November 5, 2018
-Lights…cameras…action! The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team is prepared to start its 98th year on the hardwood as the 2018-19 edition tips off Tuesday at Charlotte. A quick glance at the matchup:

It’s just the sixth time the two squads have met and only the second since the Mocs move to DI in 1977-78. The last matchup was just last December with Chattanooga topping the 49ers 64-50.

That was last year. While the 49ers return three starters and eight total letter winners from that game, the Mocs have just one, David Jean-Baptiste.

That lack of experience showed in Chattanooga’s final tune up to the regular season, a 62-60 exhibition win over DII neighbor Lee last Thursday night.
Despite just one letter winner back, the Mocs have shown an ability to come together late in contests. That should serve them well is last year’s pattern holds true with this crew as the 2017-18 Mocs had 11 games go into the final possession. They were 4-7 in those cases.

Season tickets are on sale now. They can be purchased on GoMocs.com (at the link above) or by calling (423) 266-MOCS. Fans can also stop by the Gate 1 ticket office at McKenzie Arena.

The Culture Of Policing In Chattanooga - And Response (3)

I totally agree with the sentiments expressed by Brenda Washington. Over the years, I have noticed that people tend to ignore or dismiss what she says, or attack her. This is unfortunate, because she is alerting people of the problems within the culture of policing in Chattanooga, whether it is in Hamilton County or the city of Chattanooga. There are good, honest police officers ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Best Olympics Story Ever

When I was in elementary school, there was an article in “Boys Life” magazine that introduced me to Jesse Owens, the great Olympic athlete who was far-and-away my favorite of all my childhood heroes. You’ll remember Hitler said Jesse was a member of the “United States Negro Auxiliary” at the 1936 Olympic Games because blacks were too inferior to be on the real U.S. team. You’ll ...
