Storm Sweeps Through Chattanooga Bringing Some Power Outages; 1 Killed At Christiana, Tn.

A storm swept through the Chattanooga area early Tuesday morning, bringing some power outages.

There were significant outages in the Bakewell-Sale Creek area, the EPB reported.

Other outages were scattered throughout Hamilton County.

There were no outages reported in East Ridge and minimal outages for Red Bank-Moccasin Bend. Hixson-Northgate had scattered outages. There were moderate outages at Signal Mountain and Walden.

EPB crews were working to restore power.

A tornado touched down in Christiana, Tn., in Rutherford County. One person was killed and two others hospitalized. 

The victim was 41-year-old Angie Walker, whose family operates WGNS AM & FM radio in Murfreesboro. Her father is Bart Walker.

Ms. Walker is survived by her husband Scott, and two teenage children.
 
Hamilton County Schools were on a two-hour delay on Tuesday morning in anticipation of the storm, which carried heavy rain and high winds..
