Alexander Dijon North has been arrested after a woman said she was raped near the Community Kitchen.

North, 27, of Patten Towers, is charged with rape.

The woman said she had been in Chattanooga about a month when the incident took place. She said she had been with her brother and a man she knew as "Cali" in a churchyard near the Community Kitchen. She said she left her brother and went with "Cali" to get alcohol.

She said "Cali" grabbed her and dragged her across a parking lot to a secluded area. She said he hit her in the face, yanked off her pants and held her down by putting his knee on her shoulder. She also said he choked her and held a small knife to her throat as he raped her.

The woman flagged down a police officer the next day and was taken for a rape kit.

She later called police she had spotted "Cali" back at the Community Kitchen.

He was taken in for questioning and gave several different accounts.
