James Delashmitt
James Harvey Delashmitt, 87, passed peacefully at sunrise in his home on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
James was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to retiring from Koehring Co. after 38 years. He and his son Terry worked at a small cattle farm in Birchwood. He was led to Christ by his dedicated wife Peggy, before her passing, which gave both great peace. James was a lifelong Vols fan.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy Campbell Delashmitt, his parents James “Wesley” and Blanche Bledsoe Delashmitt, and his brothers R.V. and R.C. Delashmitt.
He is survived by his sisters, Lorene Grizzle and Virgie Roberts (Arthur); brothers, Charles Delashmitt (Becky), Tommy Delashmitt (Rosie); his children, Teena Wells (Bill), Terry Delashmitt (Carlene), Jeff Delashmitt (Debbie), and sister-in-law, Tricia Roark; grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Nathan, Alison, Austin, Katie, Cayla, Tiffany, Rachael, Jordan, Cade, and Connor; great grandchildren Avery, Capri, Campbell, and Crosby.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 4-8 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home: Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at Johnston Cemetery.
James was cared for in his home by his family who extends their special gratitude to Robert (Cowboy) Henderson, his caregiver.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Kent Hulvey, Dr. Poole, Dr. Boldt, Dr. Singh, Guardian Home Health and Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassionate care of James.
