East Ridge City Council member Esther Helton won the contest for House District 30 in Tuesday voting. Democrat Joda Thongnopnua was not far behind. The seat was held by Marc Gravitt, who won election to register of deeds.
Yusuf Hakeem, former City Council chairman, won the House District 28 seat that had been held by JoAnne Favors.
Mike Carter, Robin Smith and Patsy Hazelwood were also House winners. Ms. Smith, former state GOP chairman, takes the seat vacated by Gerald McCormick, who moved to Nashville.
Senator Bo Watson in District 11 won a new term.
