Cleveland State Basketball Drops Double Header With Snead State

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 - by Evan Stutzman

Cleveland State Community College's men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Boaz, Alabama for a road match up against Snead State.

The women's game kicked off the double header at 5:30 PM on Tuesday evening. The Lady Cougars were defeated by Snead State by a score of 82-47. Head Coach Evelyn Thompson said, "Tonight's effort showed that we're not ready to play together as a team.

I have to get this team on the same page or it will be a very long season. We had a good effort from freshman Za'kkria Robinson, sophomore Kaitlin Crump and sophomore Jordan Smith." In total, Robinson scored 14 points, Kaitlin Crump dropped 9 points and Jordan Smith scored 8 points.

The Lady Cougars are now 0-1 on the season and will look to even up their record against Dyersburg State on Friday, November 26th at home.

The men's team were up next as they faced Snead State at 7:30 PM. The Cougars lost to Snead State, 74-49. At halftime the Cougars kept it close at a 29-22 score but unfortunately Snead State ran away with the game from that point on. Head coach Lee Cigliano commented, "They played excellent defense but we struggled to execute the entire game with our offense."

The Cougars are now 1-2 on the season and will also look to even things up as they face Campbellsville-Somerset College on Saturday, Nov. 10, at home.

HES Can't Be Matched, Replicated Or Cheaply Duplicated

As a volunteer at the Humane Educational Society for four years, I have first-hand knowledge of the work this organization does and the conditions it has to overcome to do it. The 118-year-old facility in which the administration, staff and volunteers work every day is at the end of its road. A new shelter space is more than warranted. The good news is that there are county funds ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: A Thanksgiving Request

Just what if … this Thursday you could say "Thank you" to someone who, chances are, you never met nor even heard the other’s name? There is also no way you’ll ever get a thank-you note, nor have your Sunday School class friends at church whisper how much they richly appreciated your kind thoughtfulness, secretly aquiver that you will not tell them what it was that earned such praise ...
