Jenny Lou Townley Foster, 67, of Hixson, was born on December 25, 1950, in Greenville, Ms.  Jenny was a graduate of Greenville High School in 1969.  She graduated from Northwest Community College in 1971. She graduated in 1973 with a degree in math, and one year later with a Master’s degree in Special Education from University of Mississippi

 

Jenny began her career at Orange Grove Center on August 23, 1973 as a Special Education teacher.  She worked in that capacity before moving to the Residential Department.  She directed that department for many years before moving to direct the Compliance and Training Department.  Jenny’s influence on people’s lives was always positive.  She was the pulse of Orange Grove.  When she gave a directive everybody listened.  Everybody went to her for help and advice.  Her God given talents and abilities touched the lives of all who knew her.  She gave tirelessly of herself to ensure that the individuals at OGC had better lives and better opportunities.  Her vast knowledge, skills, and dedication to her life-long work could never be duplicated.  Her legacy will live on through the wisdom she imparted to others. 

 

Jenny’s life extended far past her work.  She was involved with White Oak Baptist Church as a member and Sunday School teacher.  She was an avid football fan, and loved to cheer on her Ole Miss Rebels and Tennessee Volunteers. She loved basketball and cheering on the UTC Mocs.   

 

Her favorite hobby was visiting her grandchildren and fulfilling her role as  “Gran Gran” and “Granny”.  Nothing brought more joy to her than the time she spent with each of them.

 

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Doris Townley.

 

Jenny is survived by her husband, David “Cotton” Foster; son, Pres (Melissa) Foster, Alli, Gabby, Danielle, Will, Lensey and Laney Ford; daughter Julie (Michael) Weaver, Mitchell and Matthan; Sister Rebecca (Craig) Gill and Aunt Jane Overton Ray, and several dear friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Dr., Red Bank, Tn. 37415 with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at White Oak Baptist Church.

 

Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Philadelphia, Ms. at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Orange Grove Center, 615 Derby Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
