Three candidates have applied to replace Phil Noblett as the town attorney for Signal Mountain.

Sam Elliott, Harry Cash and James Exum are in the running.

Attorney Noblett is leaving his position as town attorney since he earlier was named Chattanooga’s city attorney. He has agreed to continue in the role until his replacement is chosen.

With the installation of the new Town Council, the requested time frame for the transition has arrived, said City Manager Boyd Veal. He said the selection of a replacement should occur as quickly as possible.

He said the request for proposal has been completed and the town has three excellent candidates.

He said the next step will be for the council to provide questions for him to ask. The town manager will conduct the interviews with the council members present. Following the interviews, each council person will have a short time to talk individually with the applicants.

Mr. Veal will coordinate one night that all candidates and the council can be present for the interviews.
