Shorty Pickett
William Pickett, Sr. “Shorty” of Jasper, Tennessee, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at the age of 87.
He was a long time truck driver for many years until he retired. He spent the rest of his life farming and helping others on their farm. He enjoyed fishing, walking and playing with his grandchildren that he loved so much. He would sit on Pickett Hill and watch the cars and people he knew go by. Everyone loved him, some called him Shorty, some called him Potleg and he answered to both.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shelly Naomi Pickett; mother, Ammie Lee Pickett Beene; sons, Freddie and Eddie Pickett; and brother, A.W. Pickett.
Those left to cherish his memories are his brother, George Beene; sons, William A. Pickett, Jr.(Angel) of Chattanooga, Tn., Billy Pickett, and Vincent Pickett (Stacey); daughters, Sharon Springs (Ulysses) and Donna Pickett; daughter-in-law, Terry Pickett, all of Jasper; and a special granddaughter, Megan Hutchins; grandchildren, Shamar Hester, Celeste Davis, LaVonda Pickett Glenn, LaShonda Pickett, Rodney Springs, Artelia Green, Bradley Pickett, Amanda Hutchins, Erica Phelps, Adam Springs, Billy Hurd, Megan Hutchins, Cody Pickett, Brittany Pickett; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 12-1 p.m. CST at Tate Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. CST in the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will be at Anderson Cemetery.
